AdamCon 2005

AdamCon 2005 will be at my house in Owings Mills, Maryland on July 1-3 (Fri-Sun). This will be a weekend of marathon gaming and game-related geekery.
Who's Invited?
If you know me personally and are on good terms with me, or if you are on my LiveJournal friends list (even if we've never met), you're invited. If you're not sure, ask me. You're probably invited. Basically anyone I feel comfortable letting into my house. Your friends are invited, too.
Accommodations
First of all, it's a house, not a hotel, so don't expect a mint on your pillow. That said, crash space is available at the house (we have two futons, two other couches, a double bed, and a blow-up mattress, plus other clean, carpeted floor space). Essentially, we can host about 10 people on couches and stuff if they don't mind getting cozy and we have room for many more on the floor. The Hilton and AmeriSuites are within a couple miles if you want a private room and don't mind paying too much for it.
I'd supply snacks and soda and maybe some cheap pizzas. I'd ask for a small donation to cover costs but it isn't mandatory. We'd probably go out to the local diner or other restaurants for the main course, unless someone wants to buy food and cook it for us. :) Bring your own booze, if you're so inclined. I'm sure some people will be drinking.
My house is smoke-free inside (I should have a nice deck out back by June though). I also have a cat (to annoy allergic people) but our one guest room is a cat-free zone.
Events
At this point, I have no idea what the events are but I can tell you how they'll be organized. AdamCon will start on Friday and run through Sunday and organize the weekend into 5 slots:
| Slot | Day | Time | Duration | Living Room | Kitchen | Basement |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | Friday | 8pm - midnight | 4 hours | open | My Life with Master (Adam) | open |
| Breakfast | Saturday | 10am - noon | 2 hours | — | — | — |
| B | Saturday | noon - 6pm | 6 hours | Verge (Adam) | War Games (Dan and Jon) | open |
| Dinner | Saturday | 6pm - 8pm | 2 hours | — | — | — |
| C | Saturday | 8pm - midnight | 4 hours | open | Shadowrun (Lisa) | open |
| D | Saturday | midnight - pass out | 2-4 hours | open | Carcassonne (Adam) | open |
| Breakfast | Sunday | 10am - noon | 2 hours | — | — | — |
| E | Sunday | noon - 6pm | 6 hours | D&D 3.5E (Adam) | open | open |
| Dinner | Sunday | 6pm - 8pm | 2 hours | — | — | — |
| F | Sunday | 8pm - pass out | 4-6 hours | open | open | open |
That's two 6-hour slots, one 4-6 hour slot, two 4-hour slots, and one 2-4 hour slot depending on stamina. The slots accommodate breakfast and dinner on Saturday and Sunday. Remember: Monday is a holiday! People are free to hang around the house and game on Monday, too, but I have nothing formal planned.
I'll personally run something during at least two, probably three, of those slots. Other people will need to commit to running something during other slots. If you have a game you want to play or run, let me know. I'd love to try out some indie games at the con, too.
I don't want to overpack games with people so it'd be nice to have two games running at a time. And we don't need to fill each slot with gaming. It'd be cool to have movies running on the tv and stuff and just veg for one of the slots.

Games I'd Like to See There
Here are some examples of the type of games I'd like to see played at AdamCon:
- Traditional RPGs — D&D 3E, Shadowrun*, Cyberpunk 2020, Star Wars
- Indie RPGs — FATE, Primetime Adventures, Sorcerer, Dogs in the Vineyard
- Strategy Games — RISK, Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Samurai Swords, Tigris & Euphrates
- Family Board Games — Clue, Monopoly, Scrabble*
- Card Games — Magic: The Gathering, Texas Hold'em, Uno
- Other Games — Once Upon A Time
- * I don't actually own Shadowrun or Scrabble, but I own the rest.
Play Space
The house is a townhome with three finished stories. With any luck, we'll have a large deck built by July, too, if people want to game outside.
Here are the areas available for gaming:
- A dining area with a medium-sized table (seats 6-8). The kitchen adjoins and has an island and plenty of counter space for food.
- A main living room (seats 6-8 comfortably) — I have a large conference table I can place here.
- A finished basement (seats 6-8 comfortably) — I am borrowing a large conference table for this area, too. The tv is in the basement with the futon couches. Also contains my gaming library.
We could theoretically run three games at a time with 6-8 people in each. I suspect there's enough interest to support two games at a time for one or two slots but not enough to sustain that over the weekend. If I'm wrong, that's cool; we'll accommodate.
It may be a good idea to keep the basement free so people can watch movies. I can probably arrange a mini-area in a corner of the basement dedicated to PlayStation2/XBox gaming, too.
RSVP
If you want to come to AdamCon, let me know. You can contact me or respond to the LiveJournal Poll (either answer the poll or just add a comment to my journal; even if you don't have a LJ account, you can respond anonymously — just let me know who you are and how to contact you).
Let me know if you're willing to run a game and give me some idea what you'd like to run.
